Hawkbills are very precious turtles with a narrow beak and they also have a distinctive pattern of overlapping scales on their shells. These patterned and colored shells make them highly valuable and are commonly sold "tortoiseshells" in the market.
These sea turtles are found on the world's tropical oceans. They are especially found on coral reefs. Hawkbills feed mainly on sponges but also eat anemones and jellyfish. These animals are also a fundamental link to marine ecosystems and help maintain the health of coral reefs.
We should really help to preserve these sea turtles because they help other fish from easier access to the coral reef for food. Please be aware that we are hurting them and should be more careful.
